What Are Circuit Stickers? If you build a circuit on a solderless breadboard you might encounter the following difficulties: - Errors are made installing components because there's nothing that shows where a component is placed and what orientation it should have.
- Errors are made installing jumpers and wiring because there's nothing that shows the required jumpers and wiring.
- More time is spent building the circuit than required because those errors necessitate continuous checking and rechecking.
- The leads of components can short to other components because the leads are not trimmed .
- Components with long leads and jumpers and wires that are too long are easily accidentally removed from the circuit.
- Components, jumpers and wires that have been accidentally removed can only be properly reinstalled after first locating the schematic and possibly other documentation.
- The longevity of the circuit is limited.
The ideal solution to these difficulties is a printed circuit board, PCB, with a silkscreened component legend. However, PCB's tend to be fairly expensive and necessitate soldering. A compromise solution to these difficulties is the Circuit Sticker. A Circuit Sticker is a label that is applied to the solderless breadboard. It does what the component legend for a PCB does - it shows where components are installed, the orientation of those components, and the location of required jumpers and wiring. Circuit Stickers speed the building of the circuit by reducing the checking and rechecking that's required. Since it's easier to build the circuit it becomes feasible to take the time to trim component leads, jumpers and wiring to the proper length. Things that are accidentally removed from the circuit can usually be reinstalled without first taking the time to locate the schematic, etc. The longevity of the circuit is enhanced. Please visit the Circuit Stickers and Kits tabs above to find what Circuit Stickers are available for purchase. If you don't find what you need please visit the Custom Design tab to get a quote on what you do need. If you're a teacher at an accredited educational institution the custom design of a Circuit Sticker to be used in your class or lab is free. Anyone can suggest the design of a new Circuit Sticker by sending an email to indianakits@indianakits.com. Circuits Stickers aren't really anything new. People have been sticking wiring diagrams to breadboards since the earliest days of electronics. |
